Snow, Mountains, Horses, Elk & Eagles!

The girls with their beautiful Wallowa mountain background.

A Great Blue Heron flies below the moon - near Enterprise.

These elk were outside Joseph.
Not too excited about me gawking.....

The day kept getting better! While I was down by the marina at the lake, a Bald Eagle flew directly over me and landed in a nearby tree.
The view from the Wallowa County Park (north end of the lake).
Such a pretty drive home. It's rough, but somebody's got to do it.

Frosted Trees Line the Lake

Snowed over night and frosted the trees. Didn't stop the fishermen - one boat was out on the water first thing this morning. It doesn't really look like May here yet...... Temperature is
42.9°F in Joseph right now. And we have a weather advisory: TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 2 TO 4 INCHES IS EXPECTED. Wonderful.

Great Place for Lunch

Here's where I ate lunch today..... So nice with the sun shining.

This doe decided to snack on the fresh grass right behind the office I work in.

Juvenile Baldy by the Lake

Young Bald Eagle surveys the Lake for fish. Just a few minutes before I found this guy, an Osprey flew over my car carrying a fish in its talons. Ice is all gone now. The boaters are back.

Snowshoe Buddy Retires

Rem recently had a hind leg removed because of cancer, so he'll have to give up snowshoeing with me. He gets around very well despite the handicap. I don't think he knows he's handicapped!

Ice on the Lake and Cat Tracks in the Park

The lake has started to melt away quickly in the last few days.

Even though it has melted away some, it still looks like a cat track. I thank my ruler supplier - they came in handy. As I sit at the kitchen table I can see out the big window into the Park. There is a doe and fawn browsing on the grass, and I wonder if the cougar is waiting for them somewhere. Just watching. The camper that told us about the tracks yesterday actually saw the cat as it strolled passed her camp trailer. She took a picture of it with her camera phone, but it was too dark to tell. That was at about 8:00 pm. A cat strolling past humans in the light...... not a good sign.

Another Wallowa County Spring Day

The lake is still partially frozen. Someone was out fishing in a boat though.

The way home for lunch with fog and snow.

Snowshoeing in April

Fresh snow covers the railing of a little walkway near the Lake.

This is in the Park but near the Lodge, the highway is in the background.

Always has to roll in the snow.

Found a treasure beneath the snow.
